Urban Contagion

Team Members: Alexander Gontarz, Sean Yang

The Contagion aims to retake our roads, which accounts for a majority of the public infrastructure, and to transform them into dynamic social centres for pedestrians. The Contagion encourages cycling and walking, creating a closer knit community. It utilizes modular design to allow for rapid construction and infinite expansion. It can be used to host periodic festivals, concerts, night markets or even just be a space for people to store their bikes and enjoy their day.

Modular and easily mass replicated design allows for the project to be effortlessly adopted in cities all over the world. The custom parts can be easily mass produced and prepared at different standards. Assembly and dis-assembly is simple allowing for fast and painless construction by even inexperienced personnel. These core spaces can be used for a multitude of programs such as small stores, bike racks, benches, small gardens, art installations, musical performances, etc.
