The design of the row house focuses on viewing the family as a small community. There are both private spaces of reflection and social living spaces of interaction. The program revolves around a large mass and atrium which penetrate each floor. The atrium takes advantage of the southern light and allows for passive ventilation. It can be freely opened and closed, becoming an interior or exterior space as required.
