Nestled at a point of intersection of train tracks and an ancient Roman aqueduct is a series of buildings designed to be temporarily used by refugees. From the public’s perspective, the buildings disappear as the glass facade reflects the sky and mimics the void within the arches.
For the refugees, the massive monument creates a sense of security and permanence to contrast their suddenly unpredictable lives. The various courtyards and flexible living spaces create a feeling of home that they may be missing.
